Lake Shawn was born in 1962.  For the past 46 years the property has been owned and
managed as a sporting lake offering some of the best bass fishing and hunting in Ohio.  The property consists of over 108 total acres and 30 acres of crystal clear deep water.  Some areas of the lakes are as deep as 40 feet providing a perfect habitat for numerous varieties of sport fish.  After the fishing season is over we offer some of the finest private turkey and whitetail deer hunting in the area.  Lake Shawn is located in southeastern Ohio six miles west of Powhatan Point  on State Route 148 in Belmont County, approximately a 2.5 hour drive from the cities of Cleveland and Columbus and 1.5 hour drive from Pittsburgh, PA.

        The lakes are stocked on a year round basis with a variety of sport fish.  All fish are raised on site and great care is taken to preserve the abundance of fish currently thriving in the lakes.  It is not uncommon in a days fishing to catch large numbers of smallmouth bass, largemouth bass, perch, crappie, catfish, bluegill, trout and  large hybrid striped bass.  All fishing is catch and release and overnight accommodations are available in our rental cabins.  A fishing license is not required.

Many fishermen and women are attracted to fishing Lake Shawn because of the amount of trophy fish that have been caught.  Over the years, many bass in the 10+ pound range and bluegill and crappie in the 2+ pound range have been caught and released by our fisherman.  Catfishing is overlooked by many of our anglers but several have reported catching channel cats over 20 pounds.

15 foot electrically powered Jon boats are provided to each party of fishermen at no additional cost.  Our lakes are able support two parties of fisherman on the larger lower lake and one party of four on the upper lake.  Both lakes afford anglers the ultimate private fishing experience.  If you want to catch big fish Lake Shawn is the place. Fishing in both lakes is superb and serene.
